Sunday 3rd Jan

Too wet and miserable to go outside with the remnants of a cold - so gym. 10 mins x-trainer, core work and some leg press sets. Can reliably/repeatably press 15KG with the left now. Getting stronger. Ended the session with 10 mins treadmill, including 4 mins at 15 KPH (sub 7mm). Should help me assess where I am at with the knee.

Monday 4th Jan

Back to work - old routine then - drive around the M25 in my running gear and run from work at 7am. 5K, trying to find lit roads  (don’t really know Staines that well yet!!). Seemed to go ok. Can definitely feel the impact of increased load - so trying to take it easy - knee is holding up though. Onwards. 14 hours later - knee seems to be holding up - more than can be said for the rest of me - quads sore, generally feeling it.. I guess that means I must be “training”. Honestly - really happy. I think the knees thing is licked.. just need to keep it sensible and build gradually. And keep up with the core/leg strength work!!

Wednesday 5th Jan

Didn’t quite go to plan yesterday, too late home from work for Club night, so early start Wednesday, at the office for 6:30 - lets see what can be done. Since we moved office in July, I don;t know too many lit runs around Staines/Egham - so head torch, map on the garmin, off we go. Nice 6 miles, some dark roads with no footpath (bit scary), but got it done.

By lunchtime, knee feeling a bit sore, tight. Nothing major, but maybe 6 miles was too much. Day or so off I think.

Sunday 10th Jan

A worrying few days. Thought I might have overdone it - 6 miles was definitely not a good idea.. Busy few days with work and yesterday was Uni run (drive 506 miles in a day!!) so no chance to run or anything. Knee seems to have settled down, though 7 hours in the car yesterday probably didn’t help. This morning, 4 miles easy with a couple of friends, then 40 minutes in the gym, core work and leg press work. Lets see what happens. Setting a clear limit at 3-4 miles for a while before I stretch the distance again. London plan seems in doubt again..
