So it has come to this - after a brilliant year - Salzburg half, Endure 24, Prince's trust Wild UK, Tunder Run and Prince's Trust Palace to Palace Ultra - perhaps it was all a bit too much. A niggling knee pain has refused to go away. I've backed off, iced, eased up, self diagnosed patella tendonosis, self massaged, rested iced some more, but it will not get better. Time to see my physical life saver At Optimum Performance Clinic.

Sue has helped me and saved races for me before - but never in my 8 years as a runner have I had knee problems. I confess, I am a bit freaked out by this - it could be serious. So I've not run for a week now, and almost pain free, but scared what Sue might tell me. She listened carefully to my rambling explanation of my year - then onto the bed and a thorough examination - verdict - nothing mechanically wrong - but some scar tissue on the patella tendon. Shockwave and some ToroPro tape, and OMG, NO RUNNING for at least a week... how will I cope? Knee feels much more free after treatment and Sue is confident "we will sort this".
