Yoga can provide physical and mental benefits which could help your running.

We know that getting miles under your belt is important, but other types of training are key for maximising your potential. Yoga can help you develop the mental control needed to keep going, when the going gets tough. It can aslo be great for de-stressing, giving you time to reflect and keeping you motivated to work towards your goals.

Yoga can also help improve your strength and flexibility. By working on your hip flexors, quads and hamstrings you can run with a good efficient form and develop the strength to run further and faster. Yoga is also great for your core which helps sets the base for your posture and technique, and has the potential to protect against injuries.

Don't worry if you are inexperienced, Optimum Performance's Sport Science Yoga is tailored to people with a sport, rather than a yoga background. Just like any new activity it is important to take small steps in order to guard against injury.
