Plantar Fasciitis (pronounced Fah-shee-i-tus) is a very a painful condition which has sufferers wincing in pain every morning from the stabbing pain in the sole of their affected foot.

Thankfully as the day wears on the pain subsides but it'll be there again the next morning causing endless misery to thousands of people each year.

It is estimated that over 1,000 people in the UK, of all ages, seek hospital treatment due to Plantar Fasciitis with tens of thousands more gritting their teeth and trying painkillers, massage, shoe inserts and even steroid injections in the hope that they will cure the problem.

Plantar Fasciitis is caused by the thickening of the Plantar Fascia which is a band of tissue underneath the sole of the foot. Thickening of the Plantar Fascia can be caused by a number of things including recent damage through injury, poor footwear or arch support and repetitive 'micro trauma' over a long period of time.

Certainly many of the more traditional remedies for Plantar Fasciitis will help ease some of the pain. Changing your footwear to ensure you have cushioned heels and a good arch support, avoiding running, excess walking or standing and rolling the arch of your foot with a rolling pin or golf ball will all help. Unfortunately these steps along will not completely cure the problem.

At Optimum Performance Clinic we offer our clients suffering with Plantar Fasciitis a relatively new and exciting treatment called Shockwave Therapy. This therapy is able to get in deeper to the fascia than is possible with massage. The treatment is completely natural and encourages the healing process of the body; this allows the body to naturally heal itself in a fraction of the time taken compared with the more traditional methods and without the need for painkillers or steroid injections.

Since we have been offering Shockwave Therapy at Optimum Performance Clinic we have successfully treated 100% of all our Plantar Fasciitis clients leaving them completely pain free. The amount of treatments needed completely depends on the severity of the condition but even our most chronic patient, who was struggling to even put her foot down on the floor to walk, were cured in 7 sessions.

Don't suffer needlessly with Plantar Fasciitis pain. We can help you finally get rid of the debilitating pain once and for all. For further information on Shockwave Therapy click here.
